Decoration techniques
How Your Artwork Gets Onto the Garment
These are the decoration methods we currently offer. We recommend one based on your artwork, garment, quantity and how the apparel will be worn.
Screen Printing
Ink is pressed through a stencil screen, one color at a time, directly onto the garment. The workhorse method for larger runs of the same design.
Best for
- Larger quantities of one design
- Bold, solid-color graphics
- Event, spirit and team shirts
Artwork: Vector art (AI, EPS, SVG or high-resolution PDF) separates cleanly into print colors.
Embroidery
Your logo is stitched into the fabric with thread. A durable, textured finish that reads as professional on staff and uniform apparel.
Best for
- Polos, jackets, caps and uniforms
- Left-chest logos and sleeve marks
- Programs that reorder year after year
Artwork: Logos are digitized into a stitch file. Very fine text and thin lines may need to be simplified to stitch well.
Heat Transfer
A printed or cut graphic is applied to the garment with heat and pressure. Practical for names, numbers and smaller personalized runs.
Best for
- Names and numbers
- Small quantities and one-offs
- Individual personalization within a team order
Artwork: Vector art or a high-resolution file; simple shapes and type hold up best.
